1. I get a message "Cookie retrieval failed means login failed" and unable to login. Why is that so?

A. This is one of the mysterious error I heard from some people. Still not resolved as I never got that problem to solve that. I understand it's something due to the network firewall or when cookies are disabled. Anyone who has the problem and can help me in debugging the code is greatly appreciated.

2. I get a message "Setting ik failed, check javascript is enabled"?

A. This error is mainly due to javascript being disabled. It can also happen due to any other extensions which disable javascript (or) the security settings for the browser. This is also an error highly dependent on your browser settings. So, anyone having the problem and assist me in debugging the code is appreciated.

3. I have many emails with a long subject, is there any way to change that?

A. NO. "subject" is the place where the meta data about the file uploaded is stored. It has the following information.

GSpace (used to search the GSpace mails), "file name", random number used to uniquely identify "all parts of the file", current part of the file (if the file is split), total number of parts, "Size of the file" and the remote directory path.

eg. GSPACE | gspace.zip | 414 | 1 | 2 | 208 | gs:/gspace_ext/ d$

All GSpace mails can be filtered and archived. To setup that, please refer to the next question.

4. How can I archive gspace mails (highly recommended)?

A. 1. Login to the actual gmail web interface.

2. Click on "Create Filter" link at the top

3. Give your email address in the "From" and "To" fields. Also, give "d$" in the subject field (as the subject contains d$ at the end).

4. Click "Next step" button. Here mark the checkbox which says "Skip the inbox(archive it)". You can also give a label at the "Apply the label" dropdown (recommended). This would be useful when you want to search for a particular file at a later point.

5. Click "Add Filter" and you are done. Now the uploaded files(emails) are not shown in the inbox.

Archiving also helps in not showing the dialog box when programs like "Gmail Notifier" is used.

5. My Gmail account was locked for 24 hours. What should I do?

A. Wait for 24 hours :) . This happens if large amounts of data is uploaded or downloaded in a single day. So, try to avoid that. If you are lucky, sometimes even though the account is locked, you can try logging again. It might work. (It worked for me sometimes, I don't know the reason).

6. No files are shown after login (or) I uploaded some files but they are not shown in the right pane, what's the reason?

A. Please make sure you uploaded files using GSpace earlier. Also, ensure that the status on the status bar shows "logged in" and the used space is shown currectly. If not there is a problem with login. If you did login correctly and uploaded files are not shown, please send an email to me at rjonna@rjonna.com. We will try to resolve.

If your email id is under the "googlemail.com" domain, please ensure that you specify the domain name ie. googlemail.com while logging in. If not, the uploaded files will be sent to someone at your_id@gmail.com (if they exist). So, make sure you give the correct domain name.

7. My files are not shown after uploading "some" files. Some files are shown but not all. (or) I cannot upload anymore files after uploading "some" files. What's the reason?

A. The "some" in the question should be "many". ie. It happens if you upload many files in a single day. There is a limit on the number of files (emails) sent in a day (set by gmail). I am not sure of the exact number but it is somewhere between 500 and 750 emails.

CAUTION: The extension does not detect this (I will try to overcome this). Files are uploaded normally with status 100% complete, but the files are not shown. If you directly login using the actual gmail web interface and try to send an email, a dialog box appears saying "Your sending limit is reached".

8. Is Gspace limited so it can only handle files uploaded first with Gspace?

A. Yes. Currently it only supports files uploaded using GSpace.

9. I cannot login into gmail with a different username when I am already logged in. What's the reason? (or)
Can I have multiple accounts logged in at the same time?

A. NO. You cannot have multiple accounts logged at the same time. This is because firefox uses the same cookie information. Not only my extension, you cannot login into 2 different gmail or yahoo accounts in 2 tabs or windows using the actual web interfaces also. It maintains the same session information.

10. The upload process shows 99% and is stuck, the files are not uploaded?

A. It may happen when the network connection goes down. I will try to implement an indicator when this happen in the future releases. For now, only way is to upload the file again.

11. I get an error which says
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)

[nsILocalFile.directoryEntries]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS

frame :: chrome://gspace/content/glocaltree.js :: anonymous :: line 250" data: no]

A. This happens when the local folder you were using is deleted or locked from outside firefox. I will keep a better comprehensible error message in the next version. This error is complained mainly by Linux users. It may also occur when there are shortcuts or links in the current folder and their respective target file is deleted or locked. You can ignore this message for now.

12. Problem with character encodings. File names look garbled if they have special characters. What should I do?

A. I will try to resolve this in the next version.

13. When enter Reproduction mode Adobe Flash Player 9 shows a message of blocked communication and music doesn't play. What should I do?

A. You have to grant privileges to Gspace extension in order to access external hosts (gmail.com). Go to Adobe, and checkout the tutorial to fix the problem
